Narcissistic Abuse

How Defensiveness Builds Walls Between Others and Stunts our Personal Growth

Pay attention: The things you are defensive about can have a lot to teach you.

“There is never a reason to be defensive. If you are wrong, you have no defense, if you are right you need no defense” – unknown

Defensiveness is a response to what we perceive as threat. It often reveals an area of our lives where we are in denial. It is an attempt to hold to our own ideals and beliefs and never challenge ourselves and grow. It is an attempt to keep new insights from entering our mental field.

I would challenge you to recognize the areas in your life where you are defensive and go deep into understanding WHY these particular things threaten you . Is it fear driven? Anger driven? Is it a false belief you’re holding onto?

Lastly, in relationship, understand that someone else’s defensiveness is often a cry for them to be valued and respected. Take the opportunity to reach out to them and listen with love and understanding🤍
